Ines Zabkar

I earned my MD degree from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, where I developed a strong interest in research focusing on neurodegenerative and immunomodulatory diseases. My research involved utilizing microarray and differential gene expression analysis to investigate the effects of estrogen on gene expression changes in a menopausal rat model of Parkinson's disease. During my Erasmus year at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, I investigated NMDA receptor pathogenesis in neuroimmunomodulatory diseases under Richard Fairless, PhD. I am honored to have received a scholarship for a research visit at Northwestern University for summer 2024, as I aspire to integrate clinical work with research in the future.
